So I'm quite sure that most of you know by now I've been hinting at a contest, and I figured it was high time I just buckle down and announce it already. I need to quit being nervous. Also, I am so sorry, Edi-Raven but I'm stealing your shiny contest journal set-up because I find it visually appealing and fun. ._.

Yes, THAT diabetes-inducing pairing. The theme of this contest is an event that could/would happen on a first date between these two.

One entry is preferred, but I know how someone might initially make an entry and then not be happy with it. So the limit is two entries per person.
Entries can be in written format (oneshot) or in comic form, but the preference is a single illustration piece, fully colored. It doesn't have to be a full-body drawing, but color is preferred, as is effort put into the piece.
Written entries will probably be more critically judged, as I expect the writer to have a decent grasp on both characters and to be able to depict them in-character accordingly. This moreso goes for Nuriyah, as she IS my character, but I'll be still judging based upon how BOTH characters are written, as well as how their interactions are depicted.
You have to depict, first, the characters on a date. Where they go and what they're doing is up to you (but please try to keep it G- or PG-rated, especially considering this is a FIRST date.)
Secondly, (and most importantly,) you have to be able to illustrate a specific event occurring on this date in your entry. It can be a positive occurrence or a not-so-positive one. (Ex. one: the two are discussing what arcade to visit when some other guy hits on Nuriyah and Hot Spot jealously seizes her hand to show she's off-limits. Ex two: The two are walking along a boardwalk at a beach when they abruptly get rained on by a torrential downpour, which upsets and discourages Nuriyah and winds up making Hot Spot cranky.) Whatever you choose to make this, we need to be able to tell where they are and have a decent idea of what is taking place. My recommendation would be, if the illustration doesn't directly state this somehow (like a comic or oneshot would,) to give an in-depth explanation in your artist's comments.
Use of other Teen Titans characters and/or OCs is allowed, just remember they're not the focus, so they should not completely dominate the piece you're entering.

If you're not familiar with either of the characters, you're more than free to ask for help. Hot Spot is primarily shown in two episodes of Teen Titans ("Winner Take All" and "Trust",) and he also features in one of the Teen Titans Go! comics. If you can watch the episodes, you might get a good grasp of his character, and if you would like to read the comic digitally, I can send you the PDF file via e-mail. If you want to learn more about Nuriyah, you can send me a note or raid my gallery. (If you send me a note, I'll just link you specifically to what will help you.)
Same goes for if you're unsure of how to depict the two interacting together. I'm more than happy to help direct you to things that can give you an idea of how to depict them as a budding young couple.
I'm likely to keep making art and writing with them from time to time while the contest is on-going, to yet again give more ideas and insight into how they are around one another, so keep an eye out for those as well.

<da:thumb id="221256660"/>The contest deadline is the end of February!! You have plenty of time to work on an entry without worrying about pumping one out quickly or having to carve out time in your schedule if you just want to work slowly on it little by little in your free time. This is hopefully also enough time to back out of the contest if anyone feels that they won't be able to make the deadline or that they have no muse for a piece. I am not going to be offended or upset if anyone decides to back out; I know that life can get busy and stressful, and that a lot of things are usually going on during holidays so if you need to back out for personal reasons, even if it's just a mental health thing because you don't want to have to deal with stress, that's perfectly alright.
