Your Mercy Shall Be Your Undoing, Little Lantern

Sooooo... I actually drew this almost a full two months ago, and it's just been lingering on my computer since then, waiting for the right moment for me to upload it. I decided that moment was now.

I had been challenged by the artist formerly known as LabyrinthineMind while in a Skype discussion to write a drabble of an older Nuriyah interacting with Mongul, and to do so in about twenty minutes. Being the severely nitpicky writer I am, I couldn't make the time limit; I instead finished the exercise drabble in about half an hour.

Ooooh, but it was worth it, because it gave me inspiration to draw this, which is based off the end of the drabble. Summing things up, Nuriyah finds Mongul severely injured, and rather than just leaving him like that, decided to have mercy on him and use her ring to heal his wounds, despite the fact he's her arch-nemesis. Of course, if any of you know anything about Mongul, he's a very sexist Magnificent Bastard, and he would find someone healing him to be an insult (especially if that someone is the same young woman who once got the upper hand on him in a battle when she was little more than a child.) But... at the same time, Nuriyah's very gentle and tries to avoid conflict where possible, so she's easy to taunt, which is something Mongul always takes full advantage of. He rounds off the end of the drabble threatening Hot Spot, actually, if memory serves correctly.

I'm seriously quite proud of how this turned out (though I must have redrawn those hands a million and a half times. And it seems my powers of "bishie-fi-cation" extend to Mongul, to a degree. 0O; That's a slightly terrifying thought. This is the fifth time I've drawn him [only the third I'm posting to dA] and already somehow my ancient and long-plaguing curse of an ability to somehow draw attractive males has already infected my ability to draw my favorite DC villain. Of course it doesn't help that certain individuals I'm looking at YOU, Laby, Nicole and Lycan, darkship Nuriyah and Mongul, so this is only going to make them darkship these two more, I'm certain.  )
