LHxDi: The Ides Of March

Description

So this is a day late, but whatever.
This is the first official posted piece of LHxDi month! (And they're chibis in togas! *happysquee*)

And Diana here is proving that while she may have a head for mythology, she needs to brush up on her history. (The phrase "viva la republic" is actually from the French revolution. Hence, Leatherhead's attempting to point out Di's mistake to her.)
However, the basic concept remains the same.

What IS the Ides of March? The original Latin is "Idus Martiae" and way back during the time of the Roman empire, was simply a way of referring to the point of the month that was considered the absolute middle of the month. However, the Ides of March now is listed in our history books as being the day that marks the assassination of Julius Caesar by conspirators who wanted to free Rome from his rule. (They were a people who had no love for monarchs, and these conspirators were seeking to liberate Rome from the emperor.) Thanks to the works of William Shakespeare (or Bill Shakey, as my 12th grade English teacher has had me calling him ever since my senior year of high school,) the phrase "Beware the Ides of March!" has actually become rather well known.

Wikipedia just doesn't have enough good information.

Still, hope you enjoyed this piece!
